What a great day! Nearly 380 cars were entered in this year’s races. We estimate that over 1200 people participates as racers, spectators, staff, watching the movie Down and Derby, or attending the Scouting Alumni Reception. Thanks to each and every one for making the biggest Derby Day yet.
Special thanks to Mike Trznadel, Joe Szadek, and Joey Szadek for running the races for us. Also to our sponsor, Towne MINI, to WBBZ Television for hosting the reception and movie, and Eastern Hills Mall for providing our venue. Transit Station Hobby Stop provided trophy cases and gift certificates for the winners and Grand Rental Station in Clarence provided chairs for which we are very grateful. And finally, thanks to the many parents & leaders who served on the committee to organize, plan, and execute the event.
Congratulations to the winners. They’ll be listed in our Hall of Fame in the near future. We look forward to next year’s races.
WBBZ-TV has produced a television spot promoting the 6th annual Onondaga Derby Day, sponsored by Towne MINI. Thanks to Phil Arno, John Di Sciullo, Joe Maulucci for putting together the fantastic message. Look for it on WBBZ-TV, or watch it on Youtube.
The station is also hosting us for a screening of Down and Derby at 2:30pm on January 26th in their Eastern Hills Mall studio, as well as a Scouting Alumni gathering at Noon. We appreciate all of the support to Derby Day and the Greater Niagara Frontier Council that the Station management and staff are providing.
